A.D.A.M The Inside Story - 97 for Windows

1) Why is the program locking up when I try to run it?

If the program is locking up when you start it, it is very likely that Quicktime for Windows is conflicting with your video driver. To overcome this problem, go to Start - Settings - Control Panel - Quicktime (not Quicktime 32) - More - Video and choose Bitmap(BMP) from the list of Draw Methods. Click Apply and then YES to apply the changes. Once you have done this, close all windows and try The Inside Story again.

Please note that you must have the 16-bit version of Quicktime for Windows that is included as part of The Inside Story installer to run this program. This should not effect the 32-bit version if you have that also.

2) Why am I getting a Fatal Exception Error?

Fatal Exception errors are often caused by a conflict between Quicktime for Windows and video drivers, especially those drivers found in Gateway 2000 computers. This does not mean that the drivers are substandard, but is actually a result of their high performance. This problem is easily fixed by changing a line in your qtw.ini file. To do this, go to Start - Find - Files or Folders... and type qtw.ini in the Named: line. Click Find Now, and when Windows finds the file, double-click its filename to open the file. Change any lines in the file that read OPTIMIZE=(whatever) to OPTIMIZE=BMP. Then choose Save from the File menu and then choose Exit. Then try the program again.

3) Why are the videos not working?

If the video parts of the program are not working, you may not have installed Quicktime for Windows. You must have the 16-bit version of Quicktime for Windows that is included as part of The Inside Story installer to run this program. This should not effect the 32-bit version if you have that also.

If you are sure that you have installed the Quicktime for Windows included with The Inside Story, it is likely that Quicktime for Windows is conflicting with your video driver.

4) Why is the Cybervizz 3D part of the program not working?

If the 3D parts of the program are not working, you may not have installed Quicktime for Windows.

To overcome this problem, go to Start - Settings - Control Panel - Quicktime (not Quicktime 32) - More - Video and choose Bitmap(BMP) from the list of Draw Methods. 5) Why is the install program saying that I have a negative amount of RAM?

People who have more than 16Mb of RAM may experience messages from the installer telling them that they have a negative amount of RAM. The installer is simply confused, so if you experience this, please continue on with the installation and ignore any error messages that might appear. The performance of the program and your machine will both be uneffected by this.

6) Can I use the Internet feature if I have AOL, CompuServe, etc?

The one button internet access feature is only available to those people who have a local access provider and use Netscape or Microsoft Internet Explorer. This means that if you have AOL, for example, you will not be able to use the one button feature. If this is the case, you can still access all of the internet content simply by going to adamcorp.com/atis as you would normally go to any other site.
