A.D.A.M Comprehensive for Macintosh

1) Why am I having problems removing the fig leaves?

Choosing YES to gain access to all content during installation does not automatically remove the fig leaves. It simply allows them to be removed at will. To actually remove them, deselect Fig Leaves in the Options menu once you have the program running. If the fig leaves option is grayed out, it usually means that the program is being run directly from the CD instead of from its folder on the hard drive. To remedy this, simply launch the program from its folder on the hard drive.
If neither of the above suggestions work, try reinstalling the program and make sure you choose YES to gain access to all content.

2) Why am I receiving the error message, "Eve key is not attached"?

This error message most commonly occurs when the software security key is not connected to the computer on which A.D.A.M. Comprehensive is running. The Eve key must be connected to one of the ADB (Apple Desktop Bus) ports located either on the keyboard or on the back of your Macintosh while A.D.A.M. Comprehensive is in use.
If the Eve key is attached, please check to confirm that a copy of the Eve Init is installed in your Extensions folder, located in your System folder. If the Eve Init is not in your Extensions folder, please install it by doing the following:

  1. Drag the Eve Init out of the A.D.A.M. Inits folder located inside the A.D.A.M. folder on the CD-ROM.

  2. Place the Eve Init in the Extensions folder located inside the System folder on your hard drive.

  3. Restart your Macintosh in order for the Eve Init to become active.

If you have the Eve key attached with the Eve init installed and you are still receiving this error message, it is possible that your Eve key is defective. Please call A.D.A.M. Technical Support.

3) Why am I receiving the error message, "Cannot find Male Anterior 25"?

The error message, "Cannot find Male Anterior 25" indicates that your Macintosh is unable to locate the A.D.A.M. Comprehensive 2.3 image files. For the majority of users, these files are stored on the A.D.A.M. Comprehensive CD-ROM, therefore the CD must reside in the CD-ROM player during the entire A.D.A.M. session. Please make sure that all cabling and termination is correct for your particular setup and that any control panels and/or extensions for your particular CD-ROM player are installed and functioning properly.

For those users that have stored the image files on either a large external hard drive or on a networked drive, please check the path for the image files (and bookshelf files). To do this:

  1. Select Preferences from the A.D.A.M. Comprehensive Edit menu.

  2. By default, the designated path for the Image files should appear in the right-hand window. If it does not, select Images Path in the left window by clicking on it once.

  3. If the path displayed on the right is not correct, click the Change button in the lower right-hand corner. A standard Macintosh election window will open.

  4. Locate the Images folder either on your hard drive or on the A.D.A.M. Comprehensive 2.3 CD.

  5. Once you have located the folder, click once on its name to select it. Then click the Select button located above the Close button.

  6. Check the path again to make sure that it is correct and close the Preferences window.

  7. If you have selected the correct path you can now click on the image in the primary window and begin your A.D.AM. Comprehensive session.

4) Why are the user books disappearing or crashing while System Anatomy is open?

If you own A.D.A.M. Comprehensive 2.3 and user books disappear from the Card Catalog or you are experiencing crashes when you open books while in the System Anatomy, a patch is available to address these issues.

From A.D.A.M's Home Page, go to the Support section and from there the Patches section, which is an FTP site. Select the QUAD.SEA file for download. This file is a self-extracting file that contains not only the patch file, but also instructions for installation. File size is 27K compressed.
