Nine Month Miracle for Macintosh

Note: The first step to solving any Macintosh problems should be to choose System 7.5 Only or System 7.6 (or 8.0, 8.1, etc.) Base from your Extensions Manager and restart. This will free up additional memory and will reduce the chance of an extension or control panel conflict, which are the most common causes of Macintosh problems.

1) Why am I having problems removing the fig leaves?

Choosing YES to gain access to all content during installation does not automatically remove the fig leaves. It simply allows them to be removed at will. To actually remove them, deselect Fig Leaves in the Options menu once you have the program running. If the fig leaves option is grayed out, it usually means that the program is being run directly from the CD instead of from its folder on the hard drive. To remedy this, simply launch the program from its folder on the hard drive.

If neither of the above suggestions work, try reinstalling the program and make sure you choose YES to gain access to all content.

2) Why am I having trouble using only 8Mb of RAM?

If you receive the error message, "may not be enough memory," are unable to hear audio, or observe choppiness in video while using your A.D.A.M. product, you will need to quit all applications and reduce your system memory below 2MB. To do this, please try the following: Reduce disk cache to 32K and disable unnecessary extensions using the Extensions Manager Control Panel. Also, Virtual Memory can be turned on, but performance may be inconsistent or unreliable if you are not using a PowerMac.

3) Tips for using Ram Doubler with a Power Mac

If you are using Ram Doubler on a Power Macintosh, you may experience sound problems during animations in Nine Month Miracle. To remedy these problems, try disabling Ram Doubler in your Control Panels.

4) Why am I experiencing sound problems within animations?

If the animations play and there is no sound, please check the Sound Control Panel and make sure that the volume is set above zero. To do this:

  1. Select Control Panels under the Apple Menu.

  2. Double click on the Sound Control Panel.

  3. Move the Volume bar up to an acceptable level.

  4. If no sound is heard and you are running System 7.1.2 or greater, you must click and hold the Alert Sounds menu and select Volume.

  5. Move the Built In Volume bar up to an acceptable level.

  6. Close the Sound Control Panel and run one of the animations again. If there is still no sound, select the Speaker button at the bottom of the animation window and attempt to adjust the sound to a comfortable level.

If you are not using a PowerMac and are experiencing popping, static, or choppy sound, this is probably a result of operating Nine Month Miracle within Virtual Memory. While Virtual Memory is the least expensive way to increase available system memory, its use can produce choppiness in multimedia animations. To check if Virtual Memory is on:

  1. Select Control Panels located under the Apple Menu.

  2. Select the Memory Control Panel. In the Memory Control Panel, there will be a section indicating if Virtual Memory is on or off.

  3. If Virtual Memory is on, select the off radio button.

  4. Close the Memory Control Panel.

  5. Restart your computer for changes to take effect.

Ram Doubler is another inexpensive alternative to real memory and may produce the same static or choppy sound in multimedia applications. Real memory is always preferable to virtual memory, or any other third-party software RAM expander. A.D.A.M. Software recommends a minimum of 8 Megabytes of real memory for Nine Month Miracle.

5) Why can't I find the 3-D baby tour after receiving the unlock code?

The Nine Month Miracle 3-D baby tour is located in month five of the Family Album. To access it you must click the next (forward) page button 5 times. The tour is labeled EVU 3000: 3-D Tour. Do not confuse it with the EVU 3000: Month 5, which is located on the previous page.

6) Why are the following two errors appearing when attempting to use Nine Month Miracle 1.0?

Sorry, the "ADAM Player" could not be located. The animations will not be available. Please install the application again.

Sorry, the "PLR" folder is missing files. Please reinstall A.D.A.M.

The alias that the problem creates on the hard drive is not accessing the appropriate files on the CD. Use the following steps to make new alias and replace the alias currently located on the hard drive.

1. Open the Nine Month Miracle 1.0 folder within the Nine Month Miracle CD.
2. Use the following steps to make an alias of these files within these folders: Nine Month Miracle 1.0, Anatomy, and The Family Album.

  • Select the Nine Month Miracle 1.0 file within the Nine Month Miracle folder on the CD.

  • Select File, Make Alias from the Menu.

  • Choose OK when prompted with the following message "The disk is locked, so you cannot make changes here. Do you want to create the alias on the desktop."

  • Repeat these steps with the Anatomy and The Family Album application files.

3. Drag each new alias from the desktop into the Nine Month Miracle 1.0 folder located on the hard drive.
4. Choose OK to overwrite the existing application.
