A.D.A.M. Standard for Macintosh
Note: The first step to solving any Macintosh problems should be to choose System 7.5 Only or System 7.6 Base from your Extensions Manager and restart. This will free up additional memory and will reduce the chance of an extension or control panel conflict, which are the most common causes of Macintosh problems.
1) Why am I having problems removing the fig leaves?
Choosing YES to gain access to all content during installation does not automatically remove the fig leaves. It simply allows them to be removed at will. To actually remove them, deselect Fig Leaves in the Options menu once you have the program running.
If the fig leaves option is greyed out, it usually means that the program is being run directly from the CD instead of from its folder on the hard drive. To remedy this, simply launch the program from its folder on the hard drive.
If neither of the above suggestions work, try reinstalling the program and make sure you choose YES to gain access to all content.
2) Why do I have problems using only 8Mb of RAM?
If you receive the error message, "may not be enough memory," are unable to hear audio, or observe choppiness in video while using your A.D.A.M. product, you will need to quit all applications and reduce your system memory below 2MB. To do this, please try the following: Reduce disk cache to 32K and disable unnecessary extensions using the Extension Manager Control Panel. Also, Virtual Memory can be turned on, but performance may be inconsistent or unreliable if you are not using a PowerMac.
3) Why am I missing the hardware key, Standard manual or Radiology book?
Because of similarities in the content and design of A.D.A.M. Comprehensive and A.D.A.M. Standard, the user manual for A.D.A.M. Comprehensive is shipped with the A.D.A.M. Standard product. There are several sections of this manual which do not apply to the A.D.A.M. Standard user. Those sections refer to: hardware key, updating A.D.A.M., dissectible anatomy views, lateral arm and medial arm, extracting structures, radiologies, and self-test.
Unlike A.D.A.M. Comprehensive, A.D.A.M. Standard does not require an external copy-protection device such as a hardware key or dongle. The A.D.A.M. Standard application is locked to the A.D.A.M. Standard CD-ROM; therefore, the CD must reside in the CD player in order to launch the application. This is true even if you have performed a custom install and have placed a copy of the anatomy files onto your hard drive. In this case, the A.D.A.M. Standard application will periodically check for the presence of the A.D.A.M. Standard CD, but will access the anatomy files located on your hard drive. This will allow you to see the performance gains provided by access to a large hard drive while protecting your investment in A.D.A.M. Software. Other items, such as the self-tests, radiologies, and lateral and medial arm views, are not in the A.D.A.M. Standard product, but are features of the A.D.A.M. Comprehensive product.
