We’ve added three new podcasts to the A.D.A.M. Health Solutions Podcasts Page. Our newest podcast is from Linda MacCracken, Vice President of MDS at Thomson Reuters. In “Launching The Right Message With Your Hospital's CRM System”, Linda discusses how to select the right customer relationship management (CRM) system for your organization and how to set it up to best work for you. Learn how the right CRM system can help you find, reach and engage customers in your target audience.
In “Shifting the Marketing Mix from Traditional to New Media”, Danny Fell, Executive Vice President at ND&P, discusses traditional vs. new media and how the landscape has changed for today’s marketers. He explains how you can use both traditional and new media together in the same campaign and what factors are driving healthcare marketing today. He also summarizes trends in healthcare marketing expenditures and return on investment.
If you missed her presentation at the 2010 A.D.A.M. As we begin 2011, many of you may be thinking of creative ways to get more out of your marketing budget and resources this year. The good news is you may not have to look very far. Many of you already have the tools and information on your website that you can leverage and A.D.A.M. can work with you to further customize them to make them more personalized and actionable. By customizing Pregnancy Central, you can embed your own content within the product and link back to relevant areas on your site to drive visitors to action.
Northside Hospital, an A.D.A.M. client, wanted to add their own links within Pregnancy Central to drive users to key web pages on their site. To help drive interaction, our client support added three links to the Planning for Baby’s Arrival section:
Adding these links within the Planning For Baby’s Arrival section helped Northside seamlessly integrate their own pages within Pregnancy Central. Visitors can now read important background information on how to prepare for childbirth and parenting while simultaneously viewing Northside content and being guided to take the next step by learning about maternity classes or pre-registering for a procedure.
Another example of customization includes adding links or contact information to the white footer on the bottom of the Pregnancy Central page. Reid Hospital, another A.D.A.M. client, chose to add three links to the footer of each page within Pregnancy Central. The links direct visitors to contact Reid Hospital to schedule a tour of their Mother-Baby Care Center, view Reid Babies, and learn about Mommy 101 classes. You can add links, text or images - whatever makes sense for your objectives. There is also the possibility of adding information to subpages within Pregnancy Central.
If you would like to customize Pregnancy Central for your site, you just need to identify the URL’s of the pages you'd like to link to, and where they should be included on the main page of Pregnancy Central.
Links can be added to the following sections:

Today’s consumers aren’t just looking at traditional Western medicine for their healthcare needs. They’re becoming more interested in learning about their conditions and treatment options from both a traditional and complementary and alternative medicine perspective. Not surprisingly, a recent study by the American Hospital Association’s Health Forum found that more than 37% of responding hospitals offer one or more alternative medicine therapies. A.D.A.M.’s Complementary & Alternative Medicine (CAM) provides alternative health information integrated in the context of conventional medicine and helps your website become a trusted, unbiased source of information for your patients and visitors.
CAM includes detailed information on 170 conditions, more than 120 articles on common herbs and supplements, and an overview of drugs that may deplete nutrients in the body. Visitors can browse through information using an A to Z listing or access a convenient cross reference guide that covers conditions by organ and body system, or by signs and symptoms. Herbs and supplements are listed by use while depletions are listed by drug. Interactions are listed by drug, herb or supplement.
CAM also covers treatment options from both an alternative and traditional perspective so your visitors can weigh the benefits and risks of each treatment and make an informed choice. In addition to helping your visitors learn about their options, by including this resource on your site you can add over 1,110 pages of information to help with search engine optimization. One of A.D.A.M.’s hospital system clients estimates that they receive 1 million page views each month from visitors seeking information on complementary and alternative medicine, due in part to their dedicated effort to promote this information.
Attract new website visitors and improve patient satisfaction by providing both traditional and holistic information all in one place. For more information about Complementary & Alternative Medicine, contact your client relationship manager.
