Vaccinations
Vaccination is recommended by the vast majority of health professionals as the best way we have to prevent infectious disease. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) vaccine information statements (VIS) are the gold standard for patient education about vaccines. In fact, all vaccine providers, public or private, are required by the National Vaccine Childhood Injury Act to give the appropriate VIS to the patient (or parent or legal representative) prior to every dose of specific vaccines. A.D.A.M.'s consumer health content includes the CDC vaccine information statements and we update this content whenever there is a change to the CDC information. This means that the CDC vaccine information statements are available within your patient education or EMR system and can be called up using the HL7 Infobutton at a moment's notice, thus meeting your Meaningful Use requirements.
